A strong race in New York.

The FIA ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge is on the virtual home straight – and both Porsche drivers are showing a remarkable development in simulator racing.

The FIA ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge started with a sporty endeavor: the desire to finally offer the fans Formula E races at the highest level once again – and that is what they have done. After the sixth race of the series, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team drivers are showing exceptional developments. Because they both made it into the top 10 in digital New York and have therefore scored points. Proof of how serious Neel Jani and André Lotterer are about SimRacing.

After a strong qualifying session, Neel Jani started the race in third position. With a good start, he managed to defend his place and lined up in the tight field – until the first corner. What happened there was what had already characterized the races before: the narrowness of the action was not without collisions. This also affected the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team driver. But unlike in previous races, Neel Jani prevailed with will and skill. Not only did he successfully escape the turbulent scenes, he even moved up a place. From that point on, it was an intensive three-way fight for second place between Pascal Wehrlein, Oliver Rowland and Neel Jani. For a long time, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team driver managed to fend off the attacks of his pursuers. Until lap 11. This is where he made a small mistake in a narrow chicane, which Pascal Wehrlein and Oliver Rowland used to their advantage and passed him. A clear sign of how close the race was. Neel Jani put constant pressure on his opponents and tried to pass again in the final lap, touching Pascal Wehrlein slightly on the rear wheel. Not without consequences: his Porsche 99X Electric spun, the approaching Antonio Felix Da Costa grasped this opportunity and drove past Neel Jani.

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team driver finished a strong race at the highest SimRacing level in fifth place, and once again secured points for himself and the team. Teammate André Lotterer drove the streets of New York at a consistently fast pace, crossing the finish line in tenth place and also picking up points.

Now the big double finale of the FIA ABB Race at Home Challenge with races on Saturday and Sunday is on the agenda. Esports fans can look forward to seeing where the development of the two drivers Neel Jani and André Lotterer will lead in the final races. The turbulent first corner has already become a small race tradition – as is the increasing level of both Porsche drivers.
