Fictional course, real points.

The next round of the ABB FIA Formula E Race at Home Challenge was on schedule. This time not only virtually, but also fictionally: in Lester, USA.

Some things are too good to be true. One of them is the aptly named Electric Docks racetrack in Lester. Both the fictional circuit along with the made-up town were part of the second race this last Saturday – and therefore were an unknown factor to the drivers.

Just how well both drivers of the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team cut off in the face of these odds was already proven in the Qualifying by Andrè Lotterer. After a strong run, he finished on third position, achieving a promising spot for the start of the race. And right after the start he went on with the same high pace he set in the Qualifying, gaining the second spot. It was proof of just how well he handles the digital Porsche 99X Electric. But just as they do in reality, the virtual races of the ABB FIA Formula E Race at Home Challenge can run close. The drivers didn’t budge and battled for every single position. And amidst the pressure of the tight field it happened, just as in any real Formula E race: The Porsche driver hit the boundary and was eliminated from the race.

Top 10 and points.

Meanwhile, Neel Jani’s experience of the race was the opposite: After a difficult Qualifying, the experienced Porsche driver could prove his abilities in the simulator. Starting out from eleventh place, he kept a high pace and great rhythm to push himself forward to fourth position. And this was the position he held right across the finish line. This bagged the first points for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team in the ABB FIA Formula E Race at Home Challenge. That’s 12 points for the team.

On top of the already successful day, the results of Simona de Silvestro added the final touches. The test and development driver started off for Porsche in the Challenge Grid for eSports participants. During her first virtual race of this series, she crossed the finish line on twelfth place after a good showing in the race.

All-in-all, a good race weekend for the entire TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. And for all fans, the races on the Electric Docks circuit were above all: electrifying.
