The next round of the ABB FIA Formula E Race at Home Challenge was on schedule. This time not only virtually, but also fictionally: in Lester, USA.
Some things are too good to be true. One of them is the aptly named Electric Docks racetrack in Lester. Both the fictional circuit along with the made-up town were part of the second race this last Saturday – and therefore were an unknown factor to the drivers.
Just how well both drivers of the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team cut off in the face of these odds was already proven in the Qualifying by Andrè Lotterer. After a strong run, he finished on third position, achieving a promising spot for the start of the race. And right after the start he went on with the same high pace he set in the Qualifying, gaining the second spot. It was proof of just how well he handles the digital Porsche 99X Electric. But just as they do in reality, the virtual races of the ABB FIA Formula E Race at Home Challenge can run close. The drivers didn’t budge and battled for every single position. And amidst the pressure of the tight field it happened, just as in any real Formula E race: The Porsche driver hit the boundary and was eliminated from the race.
