About the series

In 1993, the Porsche Supercup debuted as the pinnacle of the Porsche one-make cups. Held as part of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, it took the international motorsport scene by storm.

What is it that makes the Porsche Supercup so fascinating? First, of course, it is the exclusive environment of the champions league of motorsport. The Grand Prix circuits on which the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars run their laps prior to the F1® race cars, are among the most famous in the world: Rascasse, Parabolica, Eau Rouge, Stowe are all names of some of the most well-known corners that get motorsport enthusiasts’ pulses racing.

When top drivers from the very best international Porsche one-make cup customer teams compete against each other in identical Porsche race cars, the excitement is palpable. Those participating in the championship have already proven their exceptional talent in other racing series, like the national Porsche Carrera Cups. As such, anticipation is starting to build for an action-packed Supercup season in which 8 races are held on 8 different race tracks across Europe with a field of up to 32 starters.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has high demands and expectations for everyone involved. Those who succeed on this stage, have the right set of tools to move on to a promising career in top international motorsport, no matter whether as a driver or as a team.

Equal opportunity and fairness as basic principles.

You can expect top performances in the cockpit across all three driver classifications and in the Team Classification of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Professionals, Rookies and ProAms compete against each other in identical cars – so all teams and drivers have the same chances. To ensure fair and transparent competition, the series is conducted under the guidelines of the FIA and the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e.V. (DMSB). Furthermore it is supervised by independent sporting officials.

A Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory or defeat is not predicated on a racing team’s budget, rather by vehicle control, track knowledge, courage and determination of the drivers. With the same technical prerequisites, the performance of engineers and strategists on the pit wall stands are also key: Those who develop the best setup within the framework defined by the series organiser, create the conditions for first-class performance. This is one-make cup racing par excellence.

Career springboard for young talent.

Whether old against young or freshman against veteran – all drivers equally desire success. But it's especially the up-and-coming racing drivers who are striving to make a name for themselves. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is the perfect platform for this. Rookie Max van Splunteren showed us how it’s done in 2020: by winning the Rookie Classification, he managed to secure a position on the grid at the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Earl Bamber owed the series a particularly memorable rise: The New Zealander drove his first full Supercup season in 2014, took the overall victory, and was promptly promoted to the Porsche factory driver squad. There he qualified for the LMP programme in the Porsche 919 Hybrid and won the endurance classic at Le Mans just a few months later – a storybook career.

Complete factory support guaranteed.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is completely organised by the Porsche AG. The experienced Porsche Motorsport team and their partners ensure professional support for the participants throughout the season. All participation aspects are covered – from technical support and spare parts service, to coaching for rookie drivers.

Porsche also hosts its own hospitality in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Paddock at the race track, where the series participants are exclusively catered to. An international fan base is reached with intensive, worldwide communications and public relations work across all relevant channels. Media coverage allows all participants to be in the spotlight, increasing value for both series and team sponsors.

Consistent regulations for transparency and calculability.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is a championship that includes an Overall and ProAm Classification, as well as a Team and Rookie Classification. The regulations of the series are published before each season by the Porsche AG in cooperation with the DMSB. It defines the sporting and technical principles, classifications and rules of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

The allocation of points and prize money are also expressly detailed in the regulations: Porsche awards approximately €700,000 in prize money per season. And it isn’t just the winning drivers and teams in the overall standings who can look forward to an additional bonus on top of the champagne showers. The Rookie and ProAm Classifications are also attractively compensated. As the crowning glory, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Overall Champion receives a valuable non-cash prize.

Compliance with the regulations is supervised at every event by independent technical scrutineers and other sporting officials. This ensures that all drivers and teams are competing on an equal playing field from both technical and sporting aspects.

Grateful to the sponsors.

Every year, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup proves its worth as a business platform – the fascination of the series is simply infectious. It’s a foundation for establishing long-lasting partnerships that contribute to the series’ success just as much as the top sporting performances on the race track.
