As the son of race engineer Rick Cameron, young Dane Cameron was familiar with motorsport. But his talent behind the wheel isn’t pure genetics: he has fought for it with passion, consistency, and endurance.
Throughout the course of his childhood, Dane Cameron spent most of his time on cart tracks or wherever there was enough space to drive with a cart. In the latter case, he spent a lot of time on parking lots and one of the lots from back then has now become the location of the SimRaceway School in Sonoma, California.
Early in his career, Cameron was already racing with prototype in the IMSA race series. Right off the bat, he regularly stepped onto the podium and even on to the top spot. Most recently, he raced in the IMSA DPi class for Acura. Due to this experience and his interest in the technical side of things in motorsport, it was clear cut to have the American involved in the test phase of the Porsche 963
In the upcoming season, Dane Cameron is prepared for the World Endurance Championship. At the same time, he is due to support the Porsche Penske Motorsport Team in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. But no matter where, the goal is clear: the 20th overall win for Porsche in Le Mans and with it the first overall win for Penske.
