Earning your place as a Contender
The Contender Series starts on 24 September 2022. This series will determine the final line-up for the 2023 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. A limited field of 34 sim racers will compete. The top 15 contestants from the qualifying rounds will be pitted against the drivers who placed 16-30 in the 2022 PESC as well as four sim racers from Brazil, Canada, Germany, who qualified in regional Esports Carrera Cups. At the end of the series, only the top 15 will earn a place on the PESC starting grid with last year’s top 15 finalists. Anything could happen! As one veteran of simracing explains: “Eventually it doesn’t matter whether you’re a rookie or a seasoned specialist: driving talent alone determines who will ultimately make it into the PESC.”
Racing around the virtual world
The Contender Series takes place on the same six virtual racetracks used for the qualifying heats and will be hosted on the iRacing simulation platform. Top quality graphics put viewers into the driver’s seat of the virtual Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, based on the current 992-generation model. Here, you can enjoy the dramatic action first-hand, experiencing the adrenalin-rush of the Hockenheimring and Nürburgring in Germany, Watkins Glen (USA), Silverstone (UK), Red Bull Ring (Austria) and Imola (Italy). A full list of fixtures appears on the Race Calendar.
