1970, the Porsche 917 in fire-red livery

10/8/2021

Sun-kissed.

Every so often, they come arond in motorsport: race cars that are more art than vehicle. Elegant, streamlined shapes and perfect proportions unite to glide through the wind and achieve best times. And of course, to please the eye of those looking.

This also goes for the first Porsche to win in Le Mans: In 1970, the Porsche 917 in fire-red livery crossed the finish line in first place – the first overall victory in the greatest race of the motorsport world was achieved.

50 years later, the vehicle returns to Le Mans for its anniversary. The beautiful silhouette of the Porsche 917 is unmistakably well-staged in the middle of the track: The setting sun grazes across the rear wing as if for a kiss, the doors are opened wide to embrace the sky. Invitingly for a lap in Le Mans. In perfect lighting, in the perfect vehicle.
