Favourite in sight.
Leadership claim from round 1.
Even during qualification, a clear picture was emerging around the 16 corners of the Spanish race track – and, of course, the straights in between. A group of frontrunners consisting of Vecchio, Sirica and Sipilä clearly set themselves apart from the competition with incredibly fast lap times. Neither Moreno Sirica nor Matti Sipilä managed to get closer than three tenths of a second to Gianni Vecchio. His vehicle seemed perfectly tuned, his knowledge of the track outstanding. In addition, the Team Redline driver made no mistakes.
Everything under control.
This dominance continued in the sprint race. Again, the trio set themselves apart from the rest, creating a greater lead, lap by lap – more than three seconds separated Vecchio, Sirica and Sipilä from fourth place. But even within the leading group, there was one who was clearly faster: Gianni Vecchio controlled the race the way he wanted to. The fact that a crash would set the middle of the field further back from lap two would not have mattered to him at that moment.
Modern gladiators.
In the main race, as expected, the winning streak came to an end. The reversed starting order moved the three leaders back to the middle of the field. Where they bravely fought their way forward, position by position. Talking about the fight: the duel between Berryman and Sipilä at the beginning of the race in particular showed just how high the level of the top drivers is. And just how far behind the rest are: while the first five cars were tightly grouped together, the field thinned out after that. Firstly, of course, there was the mass crash in one of the first corners. And secondly, it is evident that there are clear frontrunners who are locked in a fight for a place in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. With their first and third place in the main race, Quentin Vialatte and Julien Soenen are definitely among them. But Dino Lombardi is another one to keep an eye on – he firmly asserted his second place finish, sandwiched between the two R8G eSports drivers.
It's almost half-time.
Clear frontrunners. Drivers who now know each other's strengths and weaknesses. And theoretically, every participant still has a chance to win a place in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. So, the conditions are heating up for the next race on 9 October at the Red Bull Ring. As always, live on the Porsche Twitch channel.
