Fierce duel at the top in virtual Barcelona. PESC race report #2.

Like last season, it wasn't just the temperature of the track that was hot. We look back on a race day full of heated duels in Barcelona. Joshua Rogers decided the sprint race with a lights-to-flag victory. Reigning champion Sebastian Job, on the other hand, shone with a perfect strategy in the sprint race to then match Rogers in the main race.

Nine-lap sprint by Joshua Rogers.

With the fastest qualifying lap, the Australian, who races under the Virtual Racing School flag, secured pole position for the sprint race. The ideal starting position. But his teammates Mitchell deJong and Dayne Warren from DirectForce Pro knew how to keep Joshua Rogers on his toes during the race: they followed him round the Grand Prix circuit at the same speed. But Joshua Rogers held his nerve and won. Behind him, a heated battle was playing out in almost every position. Red Bull Racing Esports driver and reigning champion Sebastian Job once again proved his merciless racing instincts. On the last lap, just before the final chicane, he sat alongside Tommy Østgaard and passed him. But Jeremy Bouteloup also joined in this duel. Their stated goal: eighth place. With a risky yet breathtaking manoeuvre, the champion overtook the competition and completed a perfect pursuit that was rewarded with pole position in the main race.

Sebastian Job drives away from the competition.

Sebastian Job left no room for doubt here: a cool lights-to-flag victory over 18 laps secured important points for the young Brit in his title defence. But what the last lap of the sprint race had already indicated continued in the main race: pure motorsport action. Joshua Rogers, who started in eighth place, continued to fight his way forward lap after lap, so that in the end only his teammate and PESC rookie Charlie Collins separated him from Sebastian Job in first place. With all his experience, Joshua Rogers took second place on the podium. And Alejandro Sánchez? Last season's third-placed driver was very unlucky at Interlagos and couldn't avoid an accident in Barcelona either. His strongest competitor was Max Benecke, who drove to a double victory on this circuit last year. Shortly before the end of the race, Alejandro Sánchez touched Max Benecke in the chicane. But Max Benecke retained control of his 911 GT3 Cup and emerged victorious in this duel. The Spaniard, on the other hand, spun off the track and in the end could only cross the finish line in seventh place.

On to Imola.

After a short breather, it's on to the next highlight for the simracing elite in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup: at the time-honoured Imola circuit in the third race of the season. The All-Stars around the Barcelona winner QuickGabi from the Czech Republic will also be back. Join us live on Saturday 30 January on the Porsche YouTube and Twitch channels and on our Facebook page from 17:30 (UTC). #NeverNotRacing #PESC
