Impressive team performance is rewarded.

If there’s one thing the Porsche drivers are familiar with, then it’s dramatic finales and copious amounts of rain – therefore, the tough conditions during the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps may have actually been an advantage.

It’s no secret that the 24 Hours of Spa are an annual challenge: Unpredictable weather, a legendary and demanding racetrack along with a well-occupied field are part of the charm. Which once again proved true this year. The endurance race in the Ardennes took place under consistently difficult conditions that reflected on the course of the race: again, and again, the fast-paced race was slowed down due to 18 full-course yellow phases along with 14 uses of the safety car. Therefore, there was no chance for the Porsche drivers to gain a safe advantage throughout the field. Quite the opposite: constant changes in the lead, but always in the middle of it was the Porsche 911 GT3 from Rowe Racing with works drivers Earl Bamber, Laurens Vanthoor and Nick Tandy. The well-practiced trio had a confident showing: round times, strategy and stops. Everything was on point.

Starting number 98 was always prepared.

The drivers of the Rowe Porsche left no room for mistakes, kept up with the pace of the field and the opponents in check. On early Sunday morning, Nick Tandy struck his golden moments. His two team colleagues already performed impressive stints throughout the wet night, before the third of the group proved his driving skills on the slowly drying track: In a thrilling finale, the starting number 98 prevailed against opponents and saw the checkered flag after 24 hours with an advantage of mere 4,68 seconds. An impressive team performance was rewarded!

Victory and top 10 placements.

The impressive Porsche performance was complimented by the teams Dinamic Motorsport, GPX Racing and Frikadelli Racing. They finished on places 3, 4 and 8. All teams had a brilliant showing. Perfect pit stops, excellent strategies along with an impressive race. The rainy sojourn in Belgium was worth it and the Porsche 911 GT3 once more proved itself to be a loyal and reliable race car. Surely, after 24 hours Fritz Enzinger, General Manager of Porsche Motorsport, was tired yet overjoyed as well when he said, “One victory under these tough conditions can’t be underestimated.”
