Tribute to Speed.

Formula 1 celebrates 70 years with a second race at Silverstone, and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be there to honour it. But celebrations don’t mean putting one’s guard down. The fight for the title goes on, and every point counts!

When the Emirates Formula 1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix kicks off on Sunday, the Porsche Supercup winners will have already stood on the podium after having given their all on the longest-serving circuit of the Formula 1 racing calendar. The pinnacle of the international Porsche one-make cups will enter the second half of the season heading into the 5th round, and both the Overall and Rookie Classifications are closer than they’ve ever been before.

We’re definitely keen to see how the teams have adapted after the first Silverstone race last weekend. I for sure am expecting there to be some real surprises.

#25 Larry ten Voorde (NED/Team GP Elite) is only seven points behind the overall leader, #2 Dylan Pereira (LUX/BWT Lechner Racing). And among the Rookies, there are only six points between places 1 and 4. It’s only in the ProAm Classification where #20 Roar Lindland (NOR/Pierre Martinet by Alméras) has gained a clear lead.

A milestone: 290 Formula 1 races together.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has been an integral part of the Formula 1 tour across Europe and other parts of the world since its beginning in 1993. To date, Porsche race cars have crossed more than 1.5 million kilometres in series productions: Five Porsche 911 models have been used during this time, including the 964, 993, 996, 997 and 991, with engine outputs accelerating from 265hp then, to 485hp today.

The Silverstone circuit has always been one of the favourites for Supercup racing drivers. In fact, based on the statistics, the winner of Silverstone has a 50% probability of also winning the overall series title. Emmanuel Collard, Patrick Huisman, René Rast, Nicki Thiim, Philipp Eng and Sven Müller – just six out of 12 drivers who have adhered to the rule.

Experience live racing at the highest level.

All race times are presented in local time. For this weekend’s event at Silverstone, this means British Summer Time. The Free Practice Session starts Friday evening at 5:55pm (BST), followed by the Qualifying Session on Saturday at 12:45pm (BST). Round 5 of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2020 begins Sunday at 11:25am (BST) with the formation lap. Switch it on live at Sport1, Eurosport and Formula 1 TV. This weekend is a must-see event for every one-make series fan. Be part of a #TributeToSpeed with all the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup drivers and teams.
