A 24h race as Porsche has never driven before.

At this year's 24h of Le Mans everything will be different: the real race has been postponed until the end of September due to the worldwide situation. Without further ado, the virtual 24h race was announced. And the Porsche works team has responded to this call. On the original date, 13 June, Porsche will be competing with 16 drivers and four 911 RSR race cars.

As usual, the Porsche works team owns the car numbers #91, #92, #93 and #94, and each car is driven by four drivers over the full distance of the 24h race. Each team consists of two Porsche works drivers and two simracers.

The two Formula E drivers, Neel Jani and André Lotterer, are racing for Porsche in this car. Both drivers have a wealth of experience in 24h races at the Sarthe. Both André and Neel celebrated historic victories there. This team is completed by Mitchell deJong and Martti Pietilä. The two Simracers also look back on numerous victories in Le Mans, and have already successfully contested several virtual 24h races.

In the second car of the Porsche Esports Team, the two works drivers and roommates, Jaxon Evans and Matt Campbell, form a team with the simracers Jeremy Bouteloup and Mack Bakkum. Matt Campbell has already fulfilled his dream of winning Le Mans. Jaxon Evans, on the other hand, is competing for Porsche in Le Mans for the first time. The two Simracing pros, on the other hand, have already been able to gain a lot of experience at the Sarthe. And for the Frenchman Jeremy Bouteloup, the virtual race counts as a home race, so to speak.

If there is one thing you can't blame the two Porsche drivers Nick Tandy and Ayhancan Güven for, is that they do not feel comfortable on the virtual track. Right at the start of the switch to virtual races, Nick Tandy was one of the first Porsche works drivers to take part in virtual IMSA races - and only recently achieved an impressive victory. Probably nobody feels more comfortable in his simrig than Ayhancan Güven. In the races of the virtual Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, he demonstrated his talent throughout - without allowing himself even the slightest mistake. And then there are Tommy Østgaard and Joshua Rogers as competitors. The two experienced Simracers are currently also active in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. And Joshua Rogers is none other than the reigning champion having already regained the top spot in the Drivers' Championship after the third day of racing.

The fourth team in the Porsche Esports Team includes two lightning-fast Porsche works drivers, Simona de Silvestro and Patrick Pilet. The team is rounded off by the two simracers Martin Krönke and David Williams. Both have been driving at an absolute elite level for many years, and always give top performances race after race in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup.

The four Porsche works teams will start with the Porsche 911 RSR. The four works cars were designed in honour of the 50th anniversary of Le Mans and the victorious red and white Porsche 917 K. The organisers of the virtual 24h race have deliberately taken care to keep the conditions as real as possible:

• The rFactor 2 simulation, which is also the home of the Formula E Race At Home Challenge, will be used.

• They will drive day and night. A random generator can also cause a change in the weather.

• The race cars can be damaged and have to pit in order to repair the damage.

• Since this is simracing at the highest level, fuel consumption and tyre wear must also be considered in the race strategy.
