Magical places.

There are places that have something special. Something mythical. That appear mysterious and fascinating. Because they have a certain reputation. One small Swabian community has undoubtedly been one of these places for years.

Weissach, Flacht, Porsche.

It looks idyllic: rolling, green hills and plenty of nature, interspersed with farmland and forests. Nestled in the valley is a village with around 7,500 residents. People know each other, greeting one another when they meet in the street. That's nothing special in Swabia. But right on the outskirts is one of the world’s most modern development centers. The Porsche Development Centre has been located here in Weissach since 1971 – just 25 kilometers from its main factory in Zuffenhausen. A place that has a magical effect on all Porsche fans. A place where analytical engineering skills, emotion, the urge to develop and passion all come together – actually, they've always belonged together here. Where we think about the future while incorporating our own history. From the initial idea to the finished design, with the sports car of the future in mind – from the initial action to the final test drive. From a racing-ready sports car through to a pure-bred race car.

A place that combines all the essential components of the early concept phase: design studio, concept construction, wind tunnel and test stands. With extremely restricted access – after all, the sports cars of the future are created here. This secrecy is certainly another reason for the myth of the place. Series-produced models in the Development Centre and race cars just a few meters away, in the district of Flacht. Flacht is home to the Porsche Motorsport Centre – there could hardly be a closer connection between series production and motorsport. In the Porsche Motorsport Centre in Flacht, we ensure that every Porsche is developed with the experience and efficiency acquired from over 60 years of motorsport and more than 30,000 racing victories.

On the test track – from either side.

Whether a standard-production vehicle or race car: nothing is left to chance. Before taking to the road or race track, it has to complete an endurance test on our in-house test track in Weissach – where every new Porsche covers its first kilometers and has to prove its suitability for the road or for racing. Test drivers and engineers maintain constant dialog so as to be able to respond immediately to every little problem. This close coordination enables the optimum sports car to be created, and the racing vision of tomorrow to become reality. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter where the vehicles enter the test track – whether Flacht or Weissach. Only one thing counts: perfection.
