A step into all-electric racing, fans will get the chance to drive in the simulator and watch professional Sim Racers compete against Porsche’s Formula E drivers, André Lotterer and Neel Jani.

What is the event about?

Starting in 2019, Porsche expanded its motorsports involvement into Esports, hosting the Porsche Esports Supercup to fans and gamers around the world. Porsche will showcase of their professional Esports racing competition live on-stage at the IAA.

Up to 30 competitors will be racing against each other online. The top six drivers of the current championship will be present at the IAA. Fans will get a live insight into the preparation and accomplishments of these six Esports drivers.

The audience will also get the chance to drive the brand-new official Porsche Racing Simulator to experience the sensation of driving a virtual Porsche racing car.

In preparation for the PESC IAA 2019, we asked Marco Ujhasi, Manager Esports at Porsche Motorsports a few questions:

What is Porsche’s history with Sim Racing and Esports?

Porsche is actively involved with Sim Racing since 2016, with the first integration of Porsche cars in a racing simulation, namely Assetto Corsa. In 2017, Porsche launched the first partnership with ADAC Sim Racing Expo, and also joined forces with Microsoft to host the first Esports endurance competition. In 2018, Porsche hosted the Porsche Sim Racing Summit in Leipzig, which combined a Sim Racing competition with some of the best drivers in the world and workshop sessions with different stakeholders from the industry: Esport teams, drivers, publishers and brand partners. In 2019, Porsche made the next logical step in the Esports Racing engagement by powering their first global race series, the Porsche Esports Supercup by iRacing.

What should the fans look out for at the PESC – IAA 2019?

PESC is Sim Racing at the highest level. People should test their skills at the simulators and with that experience in mind watch the Race to get a ‘feeling’ about the performance the PESC drivers show.

What is the prize of winning the competition / final?

The prize money for winning the competition will be USD 10,000.
