Monza. The name alone conjures up images of Italian heritage and pure speed. And speed is exactly what the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars of the Supercup will be all about during the grand finale of the 2024 season. Sii pronto!
As the third-largest urban area in Lombardy – one of Italy’s most economically powerful regions – Monza is renowned for its industry, rich cultural history, and Italy’s largest walled park. It was within this park that, in 1922, the first motor race on a purpose-built oval circuit with impressive banked curves took place. While only fragments of the old track remain, the spirit of motorsport is very much alive here.
The Formula 1 circuit, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, is one of the most iconic tracks in motorsport. Often referred to as the "Temple of Speed," it’s one of the fastest circuits in the world, featuring long straights and a few famous corners with names that resonate not only with every Tifosi: Parabolica, Lesmo, and Variante Ascari. Since 1998, with a brief pause, the Porsche Supercup has also raced here as part of the Formula 1 Gran Premio d’Italia. This season, the series concludes here for the 10th time. It’s no surprise – the track, with its ample overtaking opportunities, is perfectly suited for nail-biting final races.
