Italy is no stranger to all-electric racing. But this year, Formula E will experience a change of scenery from Rome to the Adriatic coast as they gear up to head 220 km across the country. For the past years, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has taken place in Rome. This year however, the electric heat will touch down on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli track. The exciting double-header weekend, on 13th & 14th April is the first ever Misano E-Prix – only two weeks after the first ever Formula E race in Tokyo.

All roads lead to Misano – the new Formula E track in Italy
Pink Power and a premiere in Tokyo – narrowly missing out on the Podium but still a success
Four Porsche 99X Electric cars in the top 6: The race in Tokyo was packed with thrilling emotions, enthusiastic fans and Porsche power! With their special-edition livery and an impressive performance, Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa provided more than just visual highlights. The neon pink vehicle, a tribute to the vibrant culture of Tokyo, was designed in collaboration with TAG Heuer and was an immediate success both on and off the track - with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E drivers taking fourth and fifth place respectively. And in his best performance of the season so far, da Costa narrowly missed out on a podium finish after a heated duel with Jake Dennis. Dennis, from the Porsche customer team Avalanche Andretti Formula E, ultimately finished third. Sixth place in Tokyo went to Norman Nato of the Andretti team, while Wehrlein finished the day with a damaged front wing and in fifth place, putting him at the top of the overall rankings in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With this upward trend, da Costa and Wehrlein are now looking forward to the double-header in Misano.
A track that honours and embraces the essence of racing
Named after the late Marco Simoncelli, a motorcycle racer who was born in the Misano area, the track is most famous for hosting prestigious events like the MotoGP. In 2006 the track underwent major modernisation with widening of the tracks and an increase in the fan area, allowing it to host even more motorsport enthusiasts than before in an extensive VIP area.
Since then, the track runs clockwise, and for the Formula E race, they’ve even built a specific layout. With all these modifications, it now comes down to a track with a length of 3.381 km, a total of 14 turns, and several straights that invite plenty of strategic maneuvers and thrilling overtaking opportunities for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. Both Wehrlein and da Costa are looking ahead to the weekend in Italy, eager to showcase their ability and the cutting-edge technology of the Porsche 99X Electric.

Turning the track into a stage: showcasing Porsche talents
The Rookie Test drive is a free practice for drivers with little or no experience at all with electric cars in racing. In Misano, Matt Campbell will make his debut in the 99X Electric as he will be driving the Porsche 99X Electric for the first time ever. As a factory driver for the Porsche Penske Motorsport Team, Campbell has showcased his talent and dedication time and time again, most recently by winning the 24 Hours of Daytona in January 2024 with his teammates Dane Cameron, Felipe Nasr and Josef Newgarden in their Porsche 963.
