Every success story starts with a first chapter: Porsche Coanda to participate in the Le Mans Virtual Series 2022-2023.

The story of the Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team as the official Esports works team started a couple of months ago. Since then, our drivers Mack Bakkum, Joshua Rogers, Tommy Østgaard, and Mitchell deJong have worn the Porsche crest on their chests; now, the first big challenge is a new season of the Le Mans Virtual Series starting next week. Fans of the real World Endurance Championship know the virtual series' iconic race tracks quite well, as those five races will mark the first significant chapter for the Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team.

A quick recap.

When the global pandemic brought all real motorsport activities in 2020 to a halt, the legendary 24 hours of Le Mans could not take place on their original date in June. On short notice, the organizers transferred the action to the virtual track. On the very same weekend, 50 years after the first overall victory of Porsche at Le Mans on 13th and 14th June 1970, the first virtual edition of the 24h race took place. Porsche Motorsport cooperated with Coanda Esports for the first time and entered with four Porsche 911 RSR race cars. The class victory marked the first milestone in Porsche Esports' history. The one-off event turned into an entire racing season the following year. Again, Porsche Motorsport teamed up with Coanda to defend their title with two Porsche 911 RSR race cars. A tremendous season saw the team finishing in P2 at Le Mans and the overall GTE results. For the new season, the biggest change besides now being the official works team is the car class entered. After two successful years in the GTE category, the Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team will now field two LMP2 cars to fight for the first overall victory in Porsche Motorsport’s Esports history.

From the desert to Le Mans.

The new season kicks off in just a few days with a world premiere. The 8h of Bahrain mark the release of the new race track to the sim platform rFactor2 where the world’s best sim racers duel in the Le Mans Virtual Series. The ’Temple of Speed’, also known as Monza, will host the second round of the season in a 4-hour clash in virtual Italy. There, our team was able to secure the first win and start the season on a high last year. In November, we go rollercoaster riding in the Ardennes. The 6h of Spa-Francorchamps will be a thriller for sure. The 500 Miles of Sebring will end the regular season in December before the teams may enjoy a short break ahead of the big one. In January, the virtual 24h of Le Mans will mark the season finale and an outstanding standalone event.
