The Circuit de Monaco has been on the Porsche Supercup's calendar since the start of the series in 1993. Only the pandemic prevented the race from being held as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco in 2020. The 29th appearance of the Supercup on this legendary circuit is one of the absolute highlights of the season for teams, drivers and fans alike.

 

Incidentally, the first Porsche Supercup race here was won by a guest driver whose name is still held in high esteem in the motorsport world: none other than the Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen. For his two guest appearances in our debut season, he received a purple Porsche Cabriolet with a pink leather interior, which he liked so much that he later bought it.

The city circuit, a maze of corners through the Monte Carlo and la Condamine districts, is the most demanding circuit on the calendar for most drivers. In 2000, Stéphane Ortelli was the first "real" Monegasque to win here, two years before his Porsche Supercup Champion title in 2002. But drivers in the current line-up have also been very successful in the narrow streets. #4 Michael Ammermüller (GER/SSR Huber Racing) has won here twice – and defending champion #25 Larry ten Voorde (NLD/GP Elite) took home the trophy last season.

As it should be for Monaco, the driver line-up for the pinnacle of the Porsche one-make cups is once again international and top-class. Of the drivers behind the wheel of the 28 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the field, more than half have driven in Monaco. For up-and-coming professionals like #10 Jukka Honkavuori (FIN/FACH AUTO TECH), #12 Marvin Klein (FRA/CLRT) or the Rookies in the series, on the other hand, the city circuit is a new challenge. We can't wait to see who will make it through the spectacular corners unscathed – and enjoy the champagne shower at the end.

Practice in Monaco starts on Thursday afternoon at 3:35 pm (CEST). On Friday afternoon, the Qualifying Session follows at 3:30 pm (CEST) – and after a day's break, tune in live on Sunday at 12:05 pm (CEST) for the 2nd round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2022.
