Mexico City, are you ready to rock?

On Saturday 12 February Mexico City’s famous Foro Sol stadium will roar to sound of a different power-charged performance. It’s the third race in the 2022 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. And the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is fully amped for the show.

Since hosting the first Mexican E Prix in 2016, the circuit in eastern Mexico City quickly established itself as one of the most exciting fixtures in Formula E. Uniquely, it incorporates the legendary Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez racetrack with a massive 30 000-seater amphitheatre music venue. Where the original circuit used to hurtle straight into the notoriously fast - and frequently dangerous - Peraltada Curve, now it yanks drivers into a hard right detour that enters the stadium itself, zipping through a series of tight bends. It’s the trickiest part the circuit. For fans in the grandstands, it provides a spectacular, unrivalled close-up view of the action.

Speaking of action, race day will be relentless. The gates open first thing in the morning, with crews and drivers busy making last-minute preparations for the two Free Practice rounds followed by the critical Qualifier. Then it’s time for the headline act: the main race at 16:00 (local time).

From the split-second the lights turn green it’s going to be fast. Super-fast. Already, with its race-ready surface and long corners, Mexico City is known to be one of the fastest tracks on the Formula E circuit. Not only that; this year’s Formula E Gen2 cars are the quickest and they’ve ever been, with 220kW (up from 200kW last season) of power to draw on. During ATTACK mode, the previous 235kW on tap will wind up to 250kW.

Every second during the race, the Mexico City racetrack demands absolute performance from man and machine. Switching in the blink of an eye from top-speed straights to highly technical bends forces the drivers to stay on their toes and keeps fans on the edge of their seats. Be sure not to miss this one! You can count on the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team’s very own rock stars – André Lotterer and Pascal Wehrlein – putting on a show to remember.
