The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

It all started with Spencer Penrose, one of Colorado Springs major’s more than 100 years ago. He realized the tourism potential of the Pikes Peak mountain and in 1915 he finished converting the narrow carriage road into the Pikes Peak Highway. Now he just needed visitors and to draw them to this sight and his Broadmoor Hotel, he came up with a simple plan: host an automobile race to the summit of Pikes Peak. The Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb was born, and the first race was held in 1916.

The 99th edition of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second-oldest motorsports race in America and challenges every racer with 156 corners leading up to the finish line at an altitude of more than 4,300 meters. Among the more than 55 participants, a dozen Porsche racers were battling it out for the best possible standings at the legendary "Race to the Clouds" in Colorado, USA.  Porsche-built and Porsche-based race cars competed in three classes: Time Attack 1, Pikes Peak Open and the one-make Porsche Pikes Peak Trophy by Yokohama. This is the world's most famous hill climb event, so it was only natural that some of the world's most skilled racing drivers competed - among them Porsche factory driver Romain Dumas; sports car champion and Pikes Peak veteran David Donohue; and racer, stunt driver and television host Tanner Foust.

Due to the high-altitude reflexes can slow down and even muscle strength can decrease - not to mention the extreme conditions the Porsche race cars had to withstand. Just finishing this race is an enormous challenge, let alone winning it. 
Even more reason to be massively impressed with Romain Dumas (Champion Porsche) for his victory and David Donohue (BBi Autosport) for taking P3 in Time Attack 1 class and Tanner Foust (BBi Autosport) for his win, Cameron Ingram (Road Scholars) taking P2 and Kathryn Mead (MC Squared Autosport) taking P3 in the Porsche Pikes Peak Trophy by Yokohama class.
