When several dozen brand new Porsche 911 GT3 (992) Cup cars roll onto the tarmac for the first time, the air is on fire. Anticipating teams and drivers from around the world have convened to finally test the new car’s potential under racing conditions.
Nearly all the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux teams met in Zandvoort at the end of March to extensively test their fresh-from-the-factory Cup cars. Joining them was the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup project team, which included product developers, engineers and service specialists all available to answer questions and concerns on the spot.
In near summer-like conditions and temperatures, both racing series‘ teams took turns on the circuit. Lap times in the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup were already faster than those from the retired model, although the cars weren’t in their final race set-up yet. Unsurprisingly, the performance of the 510hp strong bolide stirred up plenty of enthusiasm from everyone.

Not only did Porsche Motorsport provide technical and logistical support for the new car’s roll-out, but the new Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Rookies also received support from Rookie Coach, Marco Seefried. #29 Laurin Heinrich (DEU, Nebulus Racing by Huber), #14 Lodovico Laurini (ITA, Dinamic Motorsport), #19 Dorian Boccolacci (FRA, Martinet by Alméras) and #8 Maxime Boulin (FRA, FACH AUTO TECH) participated in an extensive track walk with him. Zandvoort, with its spectacular banked turns, is a new addition to the 2021 series program. Naturally, any insights are welcome!

With analysis indicating the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions with a liquid fuel, the Esso Renewable Racing Fuel will be tested in race conditions with Porsche’s high-performance motorsports engines during the 2021 and 2022 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. The first iteration of Esso Renewable Racing Fuel is a blend of primarily advanced biofuels and is specially formulated by ExxonMobil’s in-house team of scientists and engineers.
