The 24 Minutes of Le Mans.

Le Mans. A name that motorsport fans have always uttered with enormous reverence. Here, in this small French city, motorsport history is rewritten every year. The world's best sports cars compete in a race that demands everything of drivers and vehicles for 24 long hours.

It is a place that is also extremely important in Porsche Motorsport history. In 1951, the first Porsche 356 SL took to the grid here. This marked the beginning of a very special connection between this circuit and Porsche. A connection that is unparalleled in motorsport. 19 overall victories, technological innovations year after year and some of the most legendary race cars of all time characterise the Porsche era at this fabulous race track.

In 2014, a prototype from Zuffenhausen, the Porsche 919 Hybrid, returned to the LMP1 class at Le Mans. Just a year later, it was on its way to becoming a legend. In the ensuing years, it achieved three consecutive overall victories – and crossed the finish line for the last time in 2017, adding this unprecedented triumph to a 66-year-old success story.

Following its final Tribute Tour, the Porsche 919 Hybrid has now taken its place in the Porsche Museum. And a worthy memorial has been created in its honour. The race car's original tyres have been chopped up, melted and compressed to form the basis of a unique souvenir: 200 limited edition vinyl discs. 24 of these discs have been auctioned for a good cause: All proceeds go to the Le Mans based association Loisirs Pluriel. At this point many thanks to all participants for the very generous bids.

The discs feature the soundtrack “The 24 Minutes of Le Mans”. The history of Porsche at the French race track. Or, to be more precise, 24 stories – narrated in 24 symbolic minutes. The biggest victories, the hardest defeats, the most exciting moments and the most personal insights into the inspiration of drivers and teams. Well-known stories, as well as tales that have never been told before. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, but always thrilling, accompanied by original recordings of the cars and competitors, by interviews with eyewitnesses and by the pit radio of the crews.
